Napoleon, Greatest Military Genius, 2023, Releasing In theaters, Nov. 22
Julius Caesar the uncrowned emperor of Rome; Hannibal Barca, Rome’s greatest enemy; Alexander the Great, conqueror of the Persian Empire. Even among them, Napoleon Bonaparte stands out as one of the greatest military tacticians and generals. The greatest of all time? Possibly.
On November 22, 2023, Napoleon will be released to theaters, directed by Ridley Scott, winner of 17 awards and a 4 time nominee for an Academy Award, and starring Vanessa Kirby, Joaquin Phoenix, and Ludivine Sagnier. The movie will depict the real story of Napoleon’s rise to power and crowning as the French emperor. Produced by Apple Studios, Scott Free Productions, B G I Supplies Limited, Apple, Dune Films, and Latina Pictures, the film appears to capture Napoleon perfectly. Ridley, speaking about Joaquin, said, “Joaquin is about as far from conventional as you can get. Not deliberately, but out of intuition. That’s what makes him tick. If something bothers him, he’ll let you know,” says Scott. “He made [Napoleon] special by constantly questioning.”
Joaquin’s inquisitive nature led to significant changes on the movie. “With Joaquin, we can rewrite the goddamn film because he’s uncomfortable. And that kind of happened with Napoleon,” he says. “We unpicked the film to help him focus on who Bonaparte was. I had to respect that, because what was being said was incredibly constructive. It made it all grow bigger and better.” In simple terms,, Joaquin has put in blood and sweat to embody himself as Napoleon– an arrogant yet great and prideful French Emperor.
Along with The Marvel, Wish, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Napoleon ranks 3rd as the most anticipated film in November according to Rotten Tomato author, Ryan Fuhitani.
Even if you’re not the biggest fan of history, I encourage you to watch this film. Perhaps you’ll find yourself allured by Napoleon's great achievements that modernized European warfare, which holds a lot of inspiration from Napoleon's very own tactics.
Now across Regal Cinemas and AMC theaters in NYC.
